"Might as well have." Robert heard Ash speak up from the back of the room. Robert couldn't stop the full body cringe that swept over him as he contemplated exactly how difficult he'd made their lives thus far. It was even worse because they'd rather benevolently showed up out of the blue to help him recover his daughter which never would have been possible otherwise.
On the other hand the temple had enthralled him. Of that much he was certain and their battle of wills left him even more certain the entire situation had been out of his hands from the moment he'd left his own dimension.
Robert couldn't say he knew the not-dragon very well but he was sure she wasn't stupid and well aware of the fact he hadn't been under his own control for the last little while. So perhaps this was simply her venting rather than her being truly upset with him. Yes, it must be. Otherwise she would have abandoned him already. Robert meant to make his apologies but came back from his personal turmoil to find his guardian... Liffey ,she said her name was, and the not-dragon in something of a staring contest.
"A Keeper" Liffey said simply with no inflection. "You are luckier indeed than most mortals who arrive at this place." She said to Robert. Still not taking her eyes of the not-dragon. "You're a curious one though. I've met Keepers before and you feel... different then them, but the same." Liffey studied the not-dragon more closely and Robert felt that was only too rude. Especially now that he was set on making amends for leading them all on such a ridiculous adventure. Still, as far as he knew this was a delicate social situation between two beings with ultimate cosmic power. Better he not get involved.
Instead he turned he shuffled away quietly. Moving to stand by Roger. He'd start his apologies there. At the very least Roger was also human, if more well trained and better suited to this sort of thing. Obviously the temple had not ensnared him. "Look Roger" Robert said quietly out the side of his mouth. "I'm really sorry about all this. I... wasn't myself. This is not... normal... for me." It was rather pathetic as apologies went but he found himself distracted. Curious to see how things transpired between Liffey and the not-dragon. "Perhaps we should stand closer to the door." he practically whispered to Roger. If things did turn ugly he wouldn't bet on a minimum safe distance but farther would still be better.
