"M-monster. Killed her. Took her." Robert babbled out semi-incoherently. Sitting on his lawn, his house behind him in ruins. A not-dragon floating around giving him pitying looks. It was starting to sink in. His life had just changed. It would never be the same again.

"F.I.A.?" Ash barked with a short laugh, "You're kidding? You guys aren't supposed to exist for another two hundred-...oh no wait a minute. Nevermind."
She cleared her throat and cracked the end of her tail like a whip. With a dull flash of gold, a ghostly scroll appeared in front of her and she snatched it out of the air, flicked it open, and held it out toward Roger. "FRVH," she declared proudly despite that abbreviation appearing seemingly nowhere amid the slanted scrawlings on the parchment, "We deal with aliens and supernatural events of all the worlds. And everything in between."
"Sorry kid," she said as she rolled up the scroll and dismissed it with a short toss, "But this is a Keeper matter now. Which brings me to your question! One I'm sure you're dying to know and I'm definitely going to get in trouble for answering."
With a short loop, she landed soundlessly on the grass, sat up straight and began her tirade, "This location sits along a natural Universal fault line of sorts called a ley line. More specifically, this is where two major ley lines intersect in an event we call a Convergence. The incredibly metaphysical energy present just beyond the material veil of a Convergence causes stress fractures in the space/time continuum that appear as passageways to other Verses. For the most part, these are harmless in the short term, however, once in a while something comes through that doesn't belong in this Verse. Often, that something is benign, merely displaced, but sometimes what emerges from these rifts are foul creatures from incomprehensible planes of chaos and entropy." She gave Robert another pitying stare as he began to mumble about what happened, "What he witnessed was the later case..."
She moved cautiously toward him and stopped just by his side. "Listen," she said quietly, "I know this is a lot for you, but there are people out there that work to make these things right again. In your case, they sent the best. Can you tell me what took her? Can you tell me what it looked like and where you saw it come from?"

Its an odd felling when a ball of glitter tells you "Sorry Kid" when you yourself has children of your own, including when they show you what could only be described as an official ID printed with crayon for a some kind of security that didn't exist. Everything else globed into a rambling of noise from the F.R.V.H. "Agent" except for the last part. Planes of Chaos and Entropy sounded a lot like demons, and Roger Stanson knew more then he wanted to know about demons. The first thing was you didn't want to go near them. The second was to pack your bags and to get out as fast as possible from said demon.
Thoughts filled with unpleasantness, Stanson turned to Robert Shields and cleared his throat. "Mr. Shields, I'm very sorry for your loss today. But-" he rolled his eyes and pointed to the dust ball of glitter. "The thing and I need you to tell us as much information as you can in order to find out what happened to your daughter. Please tell us everything you can."

Roberts ears didn't absorb any of the words directed at him. At no point did his brain ever bother to translate the vibrations of air and keep informed of the situation. He was too far gone. If not for the work he'd dedicated much of his adult life too he may have set there going slowly insane. Instead... Hey, snap out of it. said a stern voice within' his head. A voice he knew... the one he sometimes used with patients who became hysterical or lethargic.
Sitting here doesn't bring your daughter back. Only you can do that. But... she's dea- Dead? What if she's not dead. What if she's waiting for her father to save her. Can you accept not even trying? No... and with that thought Roberts eyes cleared and the world snapped back into focus. "What do you want to know?"

"It lives!" Ash exclaimed with a wide grin as she only just barely kept herself from pouncing on him. "All right, listen up, I need you to tell me what you remember about the creature that did this. Specifically, what did it look like, how did it appear, and how did it take away your daughter?"

"-And if possible, why it did what it did to you and you specifically." Roger felt his hand reach for the glitter ball and tried to toss it away from Shields. He normally didn't care if a partner did all the talking while he stood around and listened but this.... THING, was clawing at his brain and making him leak all of the small ounce of sanity he had left in his life. He was also starting to feel just a little out-shined by the sparkles.

"I don't know why they did what they did... my wife died as I arrived. There was the one with my daughter and another man. They seemed to be fighting... and than I woke up" Robert leaned back, resting on his arms scrounging his mind for details.

Ash darted forward suddenly and planted her forelimbs on Robert's chest--despite the suddenness of this motion, there was no feeling of impact. "Another man?" she asked urgently, "What other man? Do you remember what he looked like or where he went?"
She glanced down and smiled sheepishly, withdrawing her claws from the front of the man's shirt. "Sorry," she said with a small, nervous laugh, "don't mean to be so upfront. This could really help me track down your daughter though! Or at least someone who would know how..." She said the last part in barely a whisper, not wishing to further demoralize this poor fellow with the confession of just how little she actually knew about the situation, compared to how much she liked to seem she did.

Sighing deeply Stanson tried to help Robert make sense of what had happend in his home, "Alright well thats a start, so there was a fight of two different parties? Or maybe they had the same plan and there was infighting at the end?" Already Stanson was in too deep, he needed to try and figure out how much support he was going to have to call in, if they even had any branch that could deal with it.

"I can't say, my wife was dead and all I just wanted to kill..." Robert sighed and pushed himself to his feet. "We can't sit here. The longer we stay the farther my daughter gets. I'll answer your questions as we..." Robert glanced up and down the street, looking for some clear sign to tell him which direction the villain had gone but nothing jumped out at him.

"As we...?" Ash looked at him with ironic expectancy, "...track down an extra-dimensional assailant by finding some footprints?" She shook her head and bounded back toward the house's crumbled doorway.
"I have a better idea, and it only requires one last answer from you," she said, stopping just at the threshold, "Can you point to me roughly the last place you saw this other man?"

Stanson nodded to Robert and started to reach into his pocket to get out a communicator to speak to a higher ranking agent when sparkles flashed by his face and he saw the- thing, go back into the house asking Robert where he last saw the man. Roger honestly tried to wrap his mind around the dragonfly/insect/glitter-ball. But there was really... nothing. Nothing that words- or even thoughts could describe, everything about her was wrong and random and it couldn't be defined.
"Look... thing could you... stop being weird?"

Robert turned away from the road and moved back towards what used to be his front door. His stride seemed to gain strength with every step until he stood in the frame and looked around the wreck of his living room. Silently he pointed at a spot near where his wifes body was buried beneath the rubble. With a visible effort Robert pushed his personal tragedy from his mind and gestured at another spot near the base of the stairs. "Those are the last places I saw them."

"Excellent," Ash breathed without turning to face Robert. With a dash and a short leap, she alighted in the area that he had roughly indicated. She glanced around the room for a moment, holding up her claws in a square shape at one point as if trying to picture something on the ceiling that wasn't there (like the ceiling). She seemed to ponder some unspoken quandary then closed her eyes.
"Ahhhh, yes, here it is," she said with a wide grin, eyes still closed, "The creature that took your daughter was a denizen of the eternal oblivion between the veils. As such, they have no connection to the permeating energy of the Universe that organizes all of creation--no strand I can follow through space and time. We detect only when they tear through it, following the reverberations of the Verse's torn state."
She paced slowly forward, stopped, and shuffled several steps back, twirling as if enacting some kind of elegant dance. "This other man, however...though his trail is faint..." she sidestepped and pivoted again, looking now as if evading and imaginary foe in slow motion, "...but I think I've found where it slips beyond. Right about..." She stopped, mid-step, directly underneath the large hole in the ceiling, and her eyes blinked open, "...here."
She glanced back toward Robert and Roger. "You guys comin'?"

Roger's eyes squinted at the glitter-ball as if maybe that would make her speak a language that made more sense to him, or maybe just make her more- Real? He took a few moments to register what she was saying but then turned his attention so something more sensical. "I could call someone for you're wife.... and to take you somewhere safe while I track down your daughter." He spoke plainly to Robert in hopes that he wouldn't seem to be making some promise that he couldn't keep. "That way you can start making some plans for... well... your wife and home. We have a system that can help you get started moving on instead of having to stand here alone with a broken home." He folded his arms and sighed, "Before you begin questioning me, I'm only giving you this option over following me to find your daughter because it might be less strenuous on you... and most definitely less deadly!" He finished sharply hoping to get his point across.
